Abstract

My piece is focused on the symbiotic relationship between plants and ectomycorrhizal fungi, showing the importance of the web of hyphae underground that exchange nutrients with roots and protect plants from different pathogens.

In my painting, the ectomycorrhizal fungi is seen as the white matter that can be seen holding hands with the roots of a pine seedling to not only show the symbiosis that they share, but also to show the way that this fungi wraps itself around the roots of other plants.
