Abstract

This paper highlights my Engaged Learning internship at Riveredge Hospital, where I support children and adolescents receiving inpatient behavioral health services. My work includes assisting therapists in group sessions, documenting clinical notes, engaging in crisis support, and collaborating with families, schools, and interdisciplinary teams. Through this experience, I gained insight into trauma-informed care, youth emotional regulation, and the importance of compassionate, structured support in high-pressure environments. This internship strengthened my communication, assessment, and teamwork skills while shaping my development as a future social worker committed to serving vulnerable and underserved populations.
