Abstract

Last semester, I worked as an archival processing intern for the Gerber/Hart Library and Archive. The Gerber/Hart is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and making accessible queer midwest history, thereby achieving their larger goal of promoting social justice and equality. In this internship, I worked with two previously unorganized collections, The Lori Cannon Collection and the People Like Us Bookstore Collection. Through sorting, cataloguing, and creating a finding aid for these collections, I made them accessible for researchers, gained familiarity with archival processing, and positively contributed to an incredible community-focused organization.
