About This Journal

Mission: The dual purposes of LURS are (1) to provide a permanent, publicly-searchable repository of the findings and methodologies of the research activities of Loyola University Chicago undergraduate students that relate to sustainability, broadly construed, and (2) to provide a rigorous, peer-reviewed outlet for their research projects and review articles. The expected audience is current and future cohorts of LUC undergraduate students, LUC faculty & staff, and anyone interested in the research topics.

Timeline: LURS will publish an annual edition on Earth Day (April 22nd) to coincide with (and heighten) the undergraduate research excitement surrounding the IES Climate Change Conference (mid-March) and Loyola University Chicago’s Weekend of Excellence (mid-April). Authors are strongly encouraged to submit manuscripts at any time of the year. All accepted and typeset manuscripts that are complete in time for production of the annual publication will be included; and all others will roll forward to the following year’s publication.

Traditional research papers: Traditional research papers with abstract (200 words maximum), Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion (4000 words maximum).

Review papers: Traditional review papers with abstract (200 words maximum), Introduction, Methods, and combined Results and Discussion (4000 words maximum).

Technical reports: Papers focused on methodology with abstract (100 words maximum), brief Introduction, substantive Methods, Results (optional), and brief Discussion (2000 words maximum).

Because part of the goal of this journal is to help future students conduct successful research, the journal will place special emphasis on clear and complete descriptions of methodology.
