Abstract

As a Social Justice Intern at Loyola, I have learned a great deal about how to advocate for others, use my leadership skills effectively, and build valuable relationships. I was placed at Misericordia Heart of Chicago, where I worked closely with different residents of varying ability levels, creating plans to help residents work towards more independence in their daily lives. This experience has been incredibly valuable for me to learn about effective leadership, behavior management, and proactive behavior support. My internship helped shape my path to advocacy for others in the disabled community like me.
