Below is a list of frequently asked questions about the annual Undergraduate Research & Engagement Symposium.

How is the virtual Symposium different from the traditional one?

Students will be able to submit presentations using an array of multimedia. These presentations will be available public viewing and evaluation for a full week (Saturday, April 24 through Friday, April 30), rather than for a brief period of time. They will continue to be available to the general public beyond the final date, unless otherwise requested.

Who can participate?

All Loyola students who have conducted a research or community engagement project (through a course, independent study, fellowship, service-learning experience, academic internship, or student organization) are welcome to present their project in either an oral or poster presentation.

Where can I submit my presentation and when is the submission deadline?

Submissions for the 2021 virtual Undergraduate Research & Engagement Symposium are now being accepted here. If you are presenting research or a community engagement project as a group, please select one group member to register for the conference (There will be a space to list co-presenters on the registration form). Submissions will be accepted through Monday, April 19, 2021 at 9:00 am Central Time. Submissions will not be accepted beyond that time.

Can a group present?

Yes! We encourage both individual and collaborative presentations. If you are presenting as a group, please select one group member to complete the registration form for the whole group. There will be space available to list all co-presenters in the registration form. It is the responsibility of the group member registering for the symposium to share all conference communications with their co-presenters.

Can I present if my research or project has not been completed?

Yes! You do not need to have completed your project or collected final results in order to present. Students are welcome to present projects or research that are still in progress.

How do I create or submit my presentation?

All presentations must be submitted by Monday, April 19, 2021 at 9:00 am Central Time. You can find guidelines and resources for creating your poster here: Instructions for Creating Posters.
