Abstract
With the increasing mental health issues faced by students in schools today, schools must ensure implementation science and evidenced-based practices are used together to address the social, emotional, mental, and behavioral health of students within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). This Capstone will utilize implementation science and research to formulate an implementation plan with the overall goal of improving mental health supports within a small, rural South Carolina elementary school. By identifying a Problem of Practice, considering the context, and identifying strengths, barriers, and implementation drivers, this implementation plan will not only try to increase access to mental health services for students within the school, but this Capstone will attempt to develop a plan to promote social justice for historically marginalized groups of students facing discrimination and lack of access to needed mental health and behavioral supports.
