Abstract
School safety remains a significant concern for school districts across the nation. Developing and implementing comprehensive safety plans that address all facets of school safety is critical for protecting students, staff, and the overall school community. Threat assessment is a proactive and preventative approach to mitigating acts of school violence. This capstone project outlines key elements of an effective threat assessment process, including identifying risk factors and warning signs, conducting comprehensive evaluations, and implementing appropriate interventions. It also provides guidelines for the successful implementation of school threat assessments by addressing factors such as training, collaboration, and resource allocation. By integrating threat assessment into comprehensive safety plans, districts can enhance their ability to identify potential risks, intervene early, and create safer learning environments where students can thrive academically and emotionally.
