Abstract
Mental and Behavioral Health (MBH) concerns are on the rise, and many children and youth lack access to appropriate care. Of those who do receive care, many access it in the school setting. School psychologists are uniquely positioned to address the gap in school-based MBH services. While school psychologists receive broad training across multiple domains, training content and methods vary considerably between programs. It is vital that school psychology graduate training programs thoroughly equip their graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to confidently function as school-based mental health practitioners. The purpose of this project is to determine best practices for training school psychologists in the provision of MBH services and to create an implementation plan to support a mid-sized Midwestern university’s school psychology program in better equipping its graduates for their future roles.
