Abstract
Rates of maternal mortality (MM) in the United States are on the rise and were likely influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic, Within the US deaths attributed to MM 17.4 per 100,000 in the year 2020, among the highest in high-income countries. Research seeks to determine relationship between COVID-19 and maternal mortality to inform the emergence of health interventions to associated outcomes. It is known that, of women diagnosed with COVID-19, health outcomes of the newborn and mother were poorer and more severe. Future investigation seeks to determine how access to healthcare impacts outcomes of COVID-19 positive women and their newborn.
