Abstract

Burnout is seen in many industries, but some individuals experience it before they are in the workforce. This is due to participating in activities such as dance and sports. From young athletes to those at the collegiate level, burnout is often the result of multiple needs not being met. Unfulfilled needs sometimes come from the negligence or unawareness of coaches and teachers about the causes of burnout. If coaches and teachers have a better understanding of burnout, they can help create an environment where they can meet the different needs of the athletes and dancers. It can also help more individuals reach their full potential.
