Abstract
Mushrooms hold significance in many cultures. They were sacred to some ancient indigenous peoples in Central America who used them ceremonially as hallucinogens to connect with the gods. Even today, research institutions such as Johns Hopkins University are researching the positive effect micro dosing hallucinogenic mushrooms can have on mental health. Today, truffle mushrooms, popular in fine dining cuisine, go for upwards of $200. There is an inherent beauty that lies below the surface of mushrooms. When looking at a scale of a mushroom top under a microscope, one will notice the beautiful intricate patterns of the basidiomycota.
