Abstract

My video gives a brief overview of the disastrous effects of overfishing on the coasts of West Africa. I explore how overfishing takes resources from coastal communities influencing food scarcity, unemployment, poverty, and forced migration. I end the video by talking about measures currently in place that have helped countries stop foreign and illegal fishing in their regions. The message of the video is that it is still possible to slow, if not reverse the effects of overfishing on coastal communities in West Africa.
