Abstract

Forging Opportunities for Refugees in America is a non-profit organization for proving high dosage tutoring to mainly Rohingyhan, Sudanese and Afghan refugees. My role at FORA was a data management and Family School Partnership intern. As part of the family school partnership staff, I addressed tasks that were directly related to students, tutoring and administrative for staff. Contact with students centered around students who needed the most guidance as they were non-English speakers and likely received little one on one attention at school. In essence, this experience allowed me to identify and improve communication gaps behind the scenes between students and educational providers.
