Abstract

This poster will explain the impact of the mentor program at GirlForward. GirlForward is a nonprofit organization based in the Edgewater community in Chicago. It serves high school-aged girls who identify as immigrants, asylum seekers, or refugees. The mentor program pairs up a woman in the community with one of the GirlForward girls for the school year where they meet for at least two hours a week and focus on activities revolving around the 4 W’s: Wellness, Wisdom, Wallet, and World. My poster will focus on what I have learned from this program and why it is pivotal to this organization.
