Abstract
At Misericordia Heart of Mercy, I interned in the Community Day Services (CDS) Department which organizes opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities. From September 2023 to April 2024, I joined CDS’s mission to lead Misericordia residents on society-oriented excursions, to further progress their involvement in the Chicago community. In contributing to this agenda, I designed lesson plans and a volunteer program for Misericordia residents to learn and purposefully impact the society they are a part of. Through this experience, I have educated myself on disability representation and initiated outreach opportunities between Misericordia Heart of Mercy and the Chicago community.
