Abstract

Mobile technology-delivered interventions (mTDIs) are effective for improving psychological symptoms in adolescents and young adults. However, little is known about what factors predict these benefits from mTDIs. Using data from an RCT that demonstrated the benefits of the app Headspace, the present study examines the extent to which participants’ language during an exit interview, analyzed using Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count, predicts quantitative wellbeing outcomes. Expected results are that linguistic variables will predict the extent to which a student experiences prolonged benefits from the intervention. These results would bring greater insight into how linguistic factors predict psychological outcomes in mTDIs.
