Abstract

This presentation will cover the experiences of Efrata Sasahulih, a Social Justice Intern for the 2019-20 academic year, at her nonprofit site: GirlForward. GirlForward is a nonprofit located in the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago that serves young women who have been displaced globally by conflict and persecution. During the 2019-20 academic year, Efrata was the Development Intern at GirlForward where she learned more about the refugee community and how nonprofits like GirlForward, which engage in social justice oriented work, play a role in building community for everyone in Chicago.
