We Still Count: Ethnographic Research On Subculture Developed Through Social Media
Abstract
This study will be covering the influence social media has on the children of immigrants discovering and connecting to their cultural identities. Social media reunites families and lost long friends, informs worldwide to local issues, among other benefits in which scholar William Cronan would describe this as fulfilling the liberal education- to connect. Connecting through media platforms catered to bringing ideas together created a subculture in this population. Despite being born into the culture of the country in which they are found, cultural ties from home life and of an unfamiliar old country developed belonging.
