Abstract

The objective of this literature review is to identify indicator of nursing turnover that could be used to guide the creation of hospital policy that incentives nurses to continue working in the hospital setting. Most nurses will struggle with the stress and burnout that comes with taking care of patients, inadequate support from administration, and lack of staffing. All of which have been magnified by the current pandemic. Hospitals cannot prevent stressful working conditions but can provide resources to retain more nurses. Examining this topic of nurse retention is crucial to the foundation and future of healthcare.
